5 Friendly Party Season Skincare Reminders

With the social summer season in full swing, it is easy to let your skincare routine fall by the wayside. It doesn't have to be this way! Our simple and sustainable skincare solutions can help keep you in check.
Here are 5 friendly reminders to keep your skin in tip-top condition and ready for all the social outings!

1. Remove your makeup
Sounds straightforward but, it’s often the simple things that can often get overlooked - yes, we are talking about makeup removal.
Number one cardinal sin when it comes to your skin is not removing your makeup before bed. But what happens when we don't remove our makeup effectively before catching some zzz's?
Think of leaving your makeup on overnight as an open invitation for bacteria to grow, pores to get clogged and breakouts to occur. Not to mention skin can become itchy and even break out into a rash. Umm... no thanks!
Remove every trace of makeup effectively (and sustainably) with our must-have Makeup Remover. A cult product for a reason! Use with water (yes water) means that harsh liquid makeup removers are a thing of the past! Even on those late nights, you only have to reach for one product and run it under the tap to use - there's no excuses!

2. Prep, prep, PREP!
The sun is shining, and the legs are out! Chances are the glare from your bright winter skin is in need of some (fake) tan! If this sounds like you, then the number one rule is to E.X.F.O.L.I.A.T.E!
So, you want to look like a bronzed goddess? Do it safely with some fake tan. But before you do, set your tan up for success (ain’t nobody got time for a patchy tan) with the smoothest base possible. Yes, we’re talking exfoliation.
Don’t roll your eyes just yet, we are all for a less is more approach that makes life easier. Introducing... the Body Cleanser. A simple (yet effective) way to cleanse kindly and buff your way to healthy skin with no nasties. Not your average ‘body exfoliator’ it’s unique duo-sided Fibre means that it’s suitable for all skin types for cleansing AND exfoliating.
TIP: Don’t forget to follow up with some moisturiser post exfoliation/pre tan in those usually dry areas. Think elbows, knees and ankles.
Don’t forget your face!
Use our gentle facial exfoliators to buff away for bright skin.
Keep pores clean and clear with just water. It doesn't get much easier than this!
Tan or no tan, exfoliating is key in assisting dead cell turnover, for unglogging pores to reveal, soft, smoother skin. Our Exfoliators are gentle enough to use 2 to 3 times a week. Pop them in the wash to reuse.

3. Stay Hydrated
Drink… LOTS! But the right stuff
When the champagne is flowing, it is easy to drink the day or night away. In the meantime, you might not realise the dehydration settle in until the headache hits. This can affect your skin more than you might realise. Keep fluids up (of the non-alcoholic kind) and plump up those cells for glowing skin. In other words, drink more H2O! Grab a drink bottle that you're proud of and bring it around with you everywhere you go so you don't forget to take a sip.
There are a few other things you can do to keep your skin looking plump and hydrated.
- Get 8 to 9 hours of sleep
- Limit showers to 5-10 minutes and don't have the water piping hot!
- Limit caffeine
- Reduce stress levels!
- Eat a diet rich in essential fatty acids

4. Cleanse & Treat
Let your makeup (or your natural glow) shine bright with a perfectly cleansed base.
Finding a cleanser that works for you and your skin is super important as it is a big part of the skincare routine. Ever had your skin feel tight after cleansing? Traditional liquid cleansers can have a tendency to dry out skin and disrupt the skin's natural barrier layer in the long term. Luckily, our Face Cleansers are gentle enough for everyone to use!
But why is cleansing important? Cleansing helps to remove built up dirt, sweat and sebum allowing for the perfect canvas for your skin to be its best self. It helps to create the best canvas for Makeup if that's your jam. Cleanse twice daily. Once in the morning and before bed.
Even if you don’t wear much (or any makeup) your skin can still benefit from a cleanse as it prepares the skin for the next step in the skincare routine - moisturising! Cleansing gives your exxy creams a chance to penetrate the skin and work its magic in the epidermal layers.
Imagine if your skin has built up layers of dirt and then you decide to put a cream or serum on top of that? No chance it can actually get to the important cellular levels of the epidermis to do what you want it to.
Treat your skin
We are all for scheduling in some self-care time and this includes time to pop on a clay mask. Ideally this would be a weekly occurrence and can be done in the lead up to an event. Find your fave clay face mask and remove it to reveal skin that’s softer than a baby's bottom. Our Face Cleansers do a great job in removing masks to reveal fresh, clean skin.

5. Moisturise regularly
Don't forget to finish off your skincare routine with a moisturiser! Give your face everything it needs from anti-ageing serums to skin brightening lotions to hydration and oil control. There's a moisturiser for everyone's skin needs so do your research and find what's best for you.
Let's face it, moisturisers aren't always the cheapest item in the beauty routine. After we spend a decent amount on serums and lotions to make sure that our skin is looking fresh and youthful, we need to ensure we are giving skin a chance to absorb the goodness that these creams and serums provide. In order to penetrate into the epidermis layer of the skin, let's reiterate reminder #4. Ensuring to cleanse first to remove dirt and sweat and let your moisturiser do what it's best at!
